yes, thats how i thought of it too.
alternately, it could be "migrate to human race" ritual that lowers region's current population level by 1, or endures x amount of turns ticking, each tick reducing the population(think like reverse growth) and at duration expiration turning to human province.

Minor race alliance quests can get forever lost if the circumstances demand it, often found myself in situation where conquering that province right now would be the wiser choice, even if it's inhabited by an useful species, or as opponents blitz through the map, the possibility to ally an minor faction getting forever lost on that shard.
In order to prevent this what about an new building that will enable to re-obtain the alliance quest ?

Embassy blueprint, functions:
-can only be built in an non-human province.
-prequisite: first i thought Palace but probably Town Hall is better, as its sooner in the tech-tree.
-upon being placed, generates an embassy location to be visited by the hero on that province.
-this embassy location stores the option to take/complete the alliance quest and any other negotiation option related to inhabitant non-human race. (retaining any requirements such as karma or diplomacy skill)
-you can have only 1 embassy(since you can ally only 1 race)in the entire shard.
-if province with embassy gets conquered by enemy it does not get demolished, however you dont lose the quest if it was in progress so you can complete if reconquer that province.
-building itself can have an rather symbolical minor effect, like +1 population mood.

If this is not doable then perhaps version2:
-this embassy location(see above) is generated on the player's demesne upon building it's prequisite structure(similar to how gambling hall generates an casino in new horizons mod)
-it stores custom(more difficult) alliance quests of all races, which ones are available to take depends on if player owns atleast 1 province of that race at the time and only available if he hasnt already allied an species.

what are thoughts, is it doable ?

Is it possible to make and add an new AI opponent into the game,
or can only modify the existing ?

edit: so i took a look in players.var
must an AI opponent absolutely appear in the campaign ? my intention was to create "skirmish opponents".

"There are problems with changing the race of a province during the game. For instance, visuals (huts) do not update properly."

Hmm, perhaps that can be avoided via converting to an blank race that then turns into target race.

"Slaughter the entire populace and then migrate to Humans" function i yearn for if happent to start out with too much goblin neighbors on the map.
Perhaps it could be done in the form of an "Xenocide"-ritual that when cast on own province does that.

Oh, nice.
I have to ask how the changing Hippodrome building has been made in New Horizons, the one that morphs to Dark Brotherhood or Templars dependant on prequisites fulfilled. Do you simply prepare multiple buildings with non-clashing, other's excluding prequisites, assign them to same slot and then game shows only the one that is eligible to build ?

I have got another idea that is slightly related, what about morphing the castle to another race through an upgrade at tier0. eg. squeezing multiple castles into one.

It would function like this:
At tier 0 instead the regular buildings allowed you would have an building upgrade for the "Palisade" slot, that changes your race to another.
Fe. at first turn you will have only 3 "fort upgrades".
1. continue as human, when upgraded restores original tech-tree and you play the game as regular human.
2. become elvish castle, when upgraded changes background pic to an custom elvish one and you play the game with an alternate unit and building tech-tree, continue as human upgrade gets excluded via taking this upgrade.
3. become orcish castle, same as 2. but for morphing to orcs.
et cetera.

the one displayed on the slot will be the cont. as human upgrade, however you can right-click on it to access the morph to another race upgrade(s). (thanks for telling, janjan)

Even if it's possible there would arise an new question:
can the demesne province's inhabitant race get morphed to anything else than human, on the main strategic map ?

where in the game files are the building pictures for demesne stored ? id like to draw something for Entertainment quater's Dark Brotherhood and an different building for Templars.
I need dimensions of pictures(x: ?,y: ?)
do i leave background transparent ? i assume buildings are bitmaps(?) that are blended in as the player buys the building.
what must be the bit-depth of picture ?
please help.

I returned to that ruined tower after have got armor piercing weapon for the ranger and it was smooth.
when the orcs rebelled in their province an horde spawned, among them an chieftain riding an elephant. currently have lvl22 sniper accompanied by several spriggans and lvl+9 archers and still cant beat that horde.
Should i level an marshal and return with full paladin, knight, guardsman for being finally able to defeat it ?

demesne(and its upgrades) would become stored on the province rather than on the player, so when one gets defeated new owner gets an 2. base with possibly different tech-tree, as it's upgrades would be kept seperate than your initial base.
I have no idea though if it's possible at all.

Can somebody tell me:

- how to defeat an witcher ? attacked ancient ruin(monster catchers), the neutral group had one and he was invincible, my party was lvl8 ranger, 4x archer, 2x spearman. killed everything else but he kept taking no(0) dmg.
- what unit deals damage to an cerberus at all ? i have managed to shoot the fiend lord to death and slay the fiend after but nothing harmed it. should have waited for ballista before attacking such (hellish cohort) stacks, i guess.
- early i had problems harming the one skeleton spearman in an crypt similarly, after equipping several magic sparks managed to pass it at cost of hero death.

Get an commander, be sure to pick archery boosting specs, give him full Ballista, Catapult, and first level row full of Archer. Ballista can get armor-piercing passive about lvl7(or was it 9), prefer +range on archers and be sure to get double shot when you can. when you see enemy wizard shoot him first.
At level 30 you can clear heart of minotaur labyrinth, dragon's cave with multiple dragons or several giants even with only losing 1-2 figures, and those are the worthless archers in front row(facing enemy). but be warned you still cant beat hard level colosseum xD
Be sure to make +exp build in demesne(and get temple of war) so they come out with free levels or start out with some exp in the bar.

Is it possible to feed an "generation map" in place of the standard map generation script, in order to play an pre-designed layout, to get an huge map that has real-world europe(Eu2:FTG like map) terrain, or an medium sized japanese isles shaped map or such. ?
Is tutorial scenario at campaign start not always the same ?

Everyone's demesne to be on plain, never on swamp or forest. (for mp)
It could be in the form of an script(??) that executes at end of world generation at game start morphing each demesne terrain to plains.
Is it doable ?
