I would like to keep this thread for releases only. Please don't post comments or anything else here.

Please download the latest release here:

Eador Genesis New Horizons mod v15.0427 English v2.4

Please go down to the next post to also download the latest patch.

Download the ZIP-archives and unpack them. If you have trouble getting the links to download, scroll down to the third post for alternative links. If the download works and has in fact reached 100% download, but you can't seem to find the file in your download folder, see if there's a file in it with a name that looks something like "Unconfirmed***.crdownload" and simply rename that to Eador.zip or Eador_patch.zip or whatever.

Before installing the mod, make a backup of your vanilla or previously modded game folder, just in case.
Copy the unpacked files and folders into your existing Eador game folder, first the main mod, then the patch. The vanilla version needs to be at least 1.05.1.

For the step-by-step installation instructions:

Step 1.) Unzip Eador Genesis New Horizons mod v15_0427_f02 ENG v2_4.zip
Step 2.) Open file folder "Eador Genesis New Horizons mod v15_0427_f02 ENG v2_4"
Step 3.) Select and copy all files e.g. by Ctrl+A, followed by Ctrl+C
Step 4.) Open game folder, in my case it would be C:\GOG Games\Eador Genesis
Step 5.) Paste all mod files at once e.g. by Ctrl+V over existing vanilla files. If prompted, select "overwrite all".

Repeat Steps 1-5 for the x.yz patch.

Start the game as usual and enjoy the best 4x game ever made!

IMPORTANT!
In order for the mod to work properly, you must start a new game. Loading an old saved game can seem okay at first, but can have unwanted side effects later on.
If you are already in the middle of a campaign and would like to continue with it, install the New Horizons mod while in the Astral in between shards, and all will probably be fine (no guarantees though).

This release should be free of any major bugs, but there might still be some in it.
If you encounter errors , feel free to report them in this separate thread:

BUG REPORTING THREAD NEW HORIZONS v15.0427 ENG v2.4

For those of you who are new to the New Horizons project, go ahead and browse this forum, with the help of Google translate if needed, to see how much effort and creativity has gone into it.

Here's a brief overview of all the features and improvements that have been created and implemented since its very first steps over 2 years ago:

- Unit promotions (all castle units, except for the ".gs-timer").forEach(n=>{let o=n.textContent.trim().match(/^(\d+)[.-](\d+)[.-](\d+)\s+(\d+):(\d+)$/) units have a chance to be upgraded to stronger and better ones, all the promotions are within one tier only)
- Tactical improvements, since there are a lot of new abilities, spells and units the AI will surprise you with new combinations of challenging enemies.
- All mercenaries are now ,n.innerHTML=`Дедлайн через ${d} ${1==d?"день":d>1&&d<5?"дня":"дней"} ${t(~~(s%864e5/36e5))}:${t(~~(.5 units (,n.innerHTML=`Дедлайн через ${d} ${1==d?"день":d>1&&d<5?"дня":"дней"} ${t(~~(s%864e5/36e5))}:${t(~~( promotions), so you have a choice to either buy a powerful and costly unit or an army of weaker ones.
- Balance changes to hero skills and hero class.
- 150+ new units (including castle units, all kinds of monsters and powerful bosses)
- 200+ new spells (including all kinds of blessings and curses, damaging spells, AoE spells and even instant kill spells if you are lucky enough to find them)
- 250+ new items (including weapons, armor, jewellery and artefacts to summon powerful monsters and contracts to hire new units)
- 20+ new item sets (giving all kinds of cool bonuses if you are able to obtain them )
- Various new races plus expanded and improved existing ones (no more Goblins and Orcs together, all of them have their own melee, spellcasting and ranged units)
- Various new buildings (including epic tier shops and a casino) and new rituals.
- Several hundred new encounters and events
- Hundreds of new images, graphics, sounds and visual improvements, including the models for all the hero subclasses.
- New music pack from the composer of the original Eador.
- Nearly a hundred new neutral armies, suited for different playing styles.
- Nearly every alliance quest reworked for consistency.
- Countless new combat abilities for units old and new.
- Numerous improvements to game balance.
- Huge amount of improvements to game lore and universe logic.
- Campaign balance and flow much improved.

Change log for Version 15.0427 compared to 14.1228:

***NEW***

1. Units
Unit description now states its class and type.
Units can be given personal names (10 characters max).
Added upgrade of an Imp (,n.innerHTML=`Дедлайн через ${d} ${1==d?"день":d>1&&d<5?"дня":"дней"} ${t(~~(s%864e5/36e5))}:${t(~~() - Mocker.
Added the upgrade of a demon ("DOMContentLoaded",()=>{let t=-179-(new Date).getTimezoneOffset();document.querySelectorAll() - Avenger.

2. Items
A Blighter, Gladiator's Bracers and a Spiked Shield comprise the "Reflected pain" set.
Astral Boots and Gloves of Meditation comprise the "Astral Energy" set.

***GRAPHICS***
Added 1 crest.
Changed various images.

***CHANGES***

1. Allies
The Halfling and Dwarven races have been reworked.
Increased the difficulty of peacefully annexing a barbarian province. Diplomacy now plays a greater role.
Centaur provinces can now be annexed without an alliance.

2. Units
All of the "+1 morale" upgrades are replaced with "+2 morale". The number of the upgrades available is tweaked accordingly.
The "Fix" spell of Workmen is replaced by an active ability similar to healing.
Changed the units of the inquisition fields.
Replaced Witcher by Border Sentinel in the Free Settlement guards.
Decreased the gem upkeep of the Destroyer (15->12).
A Grand Inquisitor now has the "Break Spell" ability, which decreases the duration of positive spells on the enemy fired upon.
Psion now has the Self-control ability, which allows it to regain ammo each turn. It lost all meditation upgrades.
Fixed various units descriptions.

3. Magic
"Summon Living Armor" spell level (4->3) and endurance cost (4->5) changed.
"Divine Warp" spell level (2->1) and gem cost (8->10) changed.
"Summon Beholder" spell level decreased (4->3).
"Polymorph" now turnes the target into an mule.
"Rain of Stones" now has an extra endurance cost of 1.
"Vampirism" now additionally gives Life Leech 50.
"Double Shot" is now available to heroes and is a level 4 spell.

4. Items
Bonuses to ranged damage on all the items but orbs and arrows are made universal and work with both bows and wands.
Added 3 slings as a new type of ranged weapon. 2 are available in the castle shops.
Changed various items and sets.

5. Heroes
Holy Knight's First Strike at level 10, replaced by Hunter of Undead (1) and Hunter of Demons (1).
Added First Strike to Paladin at level 20.
Added Entangling Shot (2) to Druid.
Added Entangling Shot (4), Roots (6), Forest Knowledge (8) and Spell Duration (+2) to Archdruid. 25% spell gem cost decrease and army mind immunity removed.

6. Buildings
Increased the Pottery income (2->4).
Increased the Brewery income (0->6).
Healers Guild now increases income by 12 for each Dionium resource.

7. Various
Rebalanced the unit rewards.
"Marksmanship" and "Wand Master" abilities now give universal bonuses which work with both bows and wands.
"Summoning Power" ability affects summoned demons twice as much.
"Shield Wall" now increases the armor by a fixed amount, and decreases the attack damage by twice as much.
"Berserk" is renamed into "Battle Frenzy".
"Chaos Spawn" ritual can now summon a Mocker
"Walking Dead" ritual can now create a Reaper or a Mummie, while the "Call of Darkness" ritual can no longer create a Reaper.
Allied defenders of a certain race increase the population mood by 1 when installed in one of that race's provinces.

***FIXES***

Fixed the crush on a draw when an army has a 5-tier unit.
Fixed the bug with site list overflow
Fixed the Militiaman image.
Fixed AI not evаluating the number of allied units available correctly.

I have used the translation software recommended by Sat (OmegaT) to generate version 2.50a (still based on fix01). I used a slightly different technique than Sat, in order to handle the '#' characters automatically; I may have introduced other bugs in the process... BK, could you take a look at my release? There is one known issue: some hero classes share their name with a regular unit. I have made no attempt to translate them differently.

We can discuss this.

I will start working on version 2.50b, based on fix03, and will also include feedback from the "Bug Reports" thread.

Overall a bit harder maybe. At least, needs readjustment. Campaign has better bonuses and energy progression, that helps a lot. Somewhat shorter overall, but that depends on the player.

I didn't know New Horizons did anything to the astral map.

So, specifically speaking about the campaign, would you say it's easier?

Thank you, the tables are pretty useful. The only thing is that they don't provide any text on what the spells and abilities actually do. Knowing the power modifier for a spell without knowing what the spell actually does is a bit lacking.

You usually get "more" buildings for every conquered shard. In that regard you might call it easier. Due to "more creatures, more alliance races" the entertainment value is definitely higher Wink

You can create your own up to date eadoropedia - including nice graphics and e.g. all spell/unit descriptions - using the eadoropedia_creator

Does anyone know anything about glory? What does it do? How much do I need and what for? For that matter I can ask the latter question again about astral energy.

Basically, I don't want to miss out on an ending or something due to insufficient glory\astral energy.

Nah, nothing's like that. Glory's just a campaign score of a sorts, means nothing. Energy buys you stuff, also nothing crucial. As for the endings, there are many and for most of them the quests are not exactly obvious and sraightforward. You will surely miss all but one, and probably just all of them.
