I would have translated:

#One of the most powerful creatures dwells here, and it will take great effort and a large army to defeat it. The lair's hoard might prove quite useful to your hero.#

Thanks for the suggestion. It's not my translation. It must have been an old one from Drakon's, but it actually reads like Google Translate. I would never have written anything like that! Smile
I had already noticed it though, and it's lined up for patch 2.08

I don't quite understand the workflow. Say there are 100 sentences that need "improvement" (aka rewriting). Even if you have to update your database, doesn't it reduce the workload if someone else translates 3 or 4 sentences?

It did when we had a high and straightforward workload, like the translation of all those units and dialogs, that's why I created the spreadsheet at the time. At this point it doesn't. I don't have a 100 sentences lined up, but each time just a handfull of changes and small fixes, often in different files. It's labour intensive to make those changes and put them into a patch, but it won't help to delegate.

All I can say is: if you see another case like the one you spotted, either improve it and let me know, so I can implement it, or just let me know and I'll improve and implement it.
And of course it then might happen that actions overlap, like the report on the casino, which I had in fact already applied in the latest patch.

Or later, when you've got your own system set up at github, you can make changes and upload them there, and I'll have the occasional look and implement the necessary changes in the TM and the released patches.

I wanted to check the var files from MotBW, but they are stashed away in compressed pak files, and I can't find a tool to unpack them. Has anyone tried modding MotBW?
Adding the damage info would be a nice touch indeed.

As I'm playing the game, I have discovered quite a few things that could be improved in the unit descriptions, mostly small grammatical or spelling errors. In most cases I noticed that the flow of the text could also do with some rewriting, so the last two days I've gone through all 282 unit descriptions, and corrected, fixed, improved, enhanced and otherwise polished up a lot of the content.

I'm sure it's still not perfect, but then I'm not a writer, and English is not even my mother tongue. It's better than it was though, not only the newly translated text, but also some of the previous work by the original studio and Drakon's team. I don't know if anyone of us regulars ever reads these descriptions anymore, but those new to the game might, and I think it's nice if the background stories make sense and read a bit more like a piece of prose.

It's now implemented as of patch 2.12

Oh, we have a very special opinion about MotBW, because of their developer's politics and quality of a game. It is very buggy and slowly and unbalanced game. And, after all of this, you need to buy them, at the alpha (maybe beta)-testing. Because there are not games with so many bugs in release version.
And I think nobody won't try to do some mods or just unpack their source files in near time.

Most entries have a pair of TAB characters between the "Abilityes" section and the "upgrades" section.
Can I safely remove these TABs or are they special markers for the game's parser?

(There are 16 entries out of 282 that don't have the pair of TABs.)

As I know, only the fact of empty (or contain TAB and space cymbol) is realy needing. And I, in one time, deleted this TAB and there no bugs or crashes. It is very good, that all units have regular structure, they always start with "/" and have a constant number of strings exclude the abilities block. And it is very easy to reading only main parameters without upgrades.

It is true that they are not being mod-friendly by hiding the game files in a custom file format. And it is also true that the game is buggy as hell. (That was the reason I stopped playing, and started looking at Genesis.) I will uninstall MotBW from my computer, and focus on helping make Genesis better -- as much as I can Wink

BTW, I read somewhere that most "advanced players" only play custom maps, and so the Genesis campaign did not receive as much testing, so there are game crashes late in the campaign. Is that true?

I had all the ending in campaign and didn't have any bugs in it. Maybe, it was about some old patches (I play only in last ant NH after them). And of course, it was checked by NecRus and modify to compare with NH's content. I think that after years of playing in vanille Eador and checking by NecRus there wasn't bugs which have a campaign in their source.
But I can't say anything about MotBW campaign, because I don't have so strong nervous to finish them. Some people also can't finish learning mission and delete this game Smile
