Eador Genesis New Horizons mod v14.1228 English v2.2

Please go down to the next post to also download the latest patch.

Download the ZIP-archives and unpack them. If you have trouble getting the links to download, scroll down to the third post for alternative links. If the download works and has in fact reached 100% download, but you can't seem to find the file in your download folder, see if there's a file in it with a name that looks something like "Unconfirmed***.crdownload" and simply rename that to Eador.zip or Eador_patch.zip or whatever.

Before installing the mod, make a backup of your vanilla or previously modded game folder, just in case.
Copy the unpacked files and folders into your existing Eador game folder, first the main mod, then the patch. The vanilla version needs to be at least 1.05.1.
Start the game as usual and enjoy the best 4x game ever made!

IMPORTANT!
In order for the mod to work properly, you must start a new game. Loading an old saved game can seem okay at first, but can have unwanted side effects later on.
If you are already in the middle of a campaign and would like to continue with it, install the New Horizons mod while in the Astral in between shards, and all will probably be fine (no guarantees though).

This release should be free of any major bugs, but there might still be some in it.

BUG REPORTING THREAD NEW HORIZONS v14.1228 ENG v2.2

For those of you who are new to the New Horizons project, go ahead and browse this forum, with the help of Google translate if needed, to see how much effort and creativity has gone into it.

Here's a brief overview of all the features and improvements that have been created and implemented since its very first steps over 2 years ago:

- Unit promotions (all castle units, except for the ".gs-timer").forEach(n=>{let o=n.textContent.trim().match(/^(\d+)[.-](\d+)[.-](\d+)\s+(\d+):(\d+)$/) units have a chance to be upgraded to stronger and better ones, all the promotions are within one tier only)
- Tactical improvements, since there are a lot of new abilities, spells and units the AI will surprise you with new combinations of challenging enemies.
- All mercenaries are now ,n.innerHTML=`Дедлайн через ${d} ${1==d?"день":d>1&&d<5?"дня":"дней"} ${t(~~(s%864e5/36e5))}:${t(~~(.5 units (,n.innerHTML=`Дедлайн через ${d} ${1==d?"день":d>1&&d<5?"дня":"дней"} ${t(~~(s%864e5/36e5))}:${t(~~( promotions), so you have a choice to either buy a powerful and costly unit or an army of weaker ones.
- Balance changes to hero skills and hero class.
- 150+ new units (including castle units, all kinds of monsters and powerful bosses)
- 200+ new spells (including all kinds of blessings and curses, damaging spells, AoE spells and even instant kill spells if you are lucky enough to find them)
- 250+ new items (including weapons, armor, jewellery and artefacts to summon powerful monsters and contracts to hire new units)
- 20+ new item sets (giving all kinds of cool bonuses if you are able to obtain them )
- Various new races plus expanded and improved existing ones (no more Goblins and Orcs together, all of them have their own melee, spellcasting and ranged units)
- Various new buildings (including epic tier shops and a casino) and new rituals.
- Several hundred new encounters and events
- Hundreds of new images, graphics, sounds and visual improvements, including the models for all the hero subclasses.
- New music pack from the composer of the original Eador.
- Nearly a hundred new neutral armies, suited for different playing styles.
- Nearly every alliance quest reworked for consistency.
- Countless new combat abilities for units old and new.
- Numerous improvements to game balance.
- Huge amount of improvements to game lore and universe logic.
- Campaign balance and flow much improved.

Change log for Version 14.1228 compared to 14.0920:

***NEW***
1. Units
Descriptions of units hired through an item now lists the buildings required for that.

2. Magic
Added 1 new spell.
Spells that summon units on the battlefield now show their stats (button on the right of the spell name in its right-click window).

3. Abilities
Added passive ability "Skillful Spellcaster", which decreases the stamina cost for casting spells.
Added passive ability "Cause Putrefaction", that inflicts "Festering Wounds" (unit cannot be healed) on enemies when hit.

***GRAPHICS***
Added 5 crests.
Added 1 player portrait.
Added 1 illustration.
Changed the images of Bone Spearman, Reaper, Warrior of Darkness and Lord of Darkness.

***CHANGES***
1. Units
Unit upkeep now depends on a unit's level. If a unit has any medals, their upkeep will increase accordingly.

Pikemen now have the "First Aid" ability.
Brutes can acquire Hills Knowledge +4 twice instead of Hills Knowledge +8 on level-ups.
Devils can now cast the "Warp" spell.
Lord of Abyss can now learn "Hellgates" from level 7 and "Warp" from level 2.
Ericuba now has the "Frenzy" ability.
The Gas Bomb now deals the primary target half of the normal damage. Secondary targets instantly take additional damage equal to the poison rate.
Warrior of Darkness and Lord of Darkness now have "Wounding Spikes" ability.
Reduced costs and upkeep of the Succubus (gold 350/0 -> 250/0, gems 50/15 -> 40/12), and she now requires mandrake to hire.

2. Magic
"Order" unit ammo cost increased (4->5).
"Horror" gem cost reduced (45 -> 40).
"Raise Reaper" spell level (2->1), gem cost (25->18), stamina cost (4->5) and scroll item level (5->4) reduced
"Raise Mummy" spell level (2->1), gem cost (25->24) reduced and stamina cost (4->5) and scroll item level increased (3->4).
"Raise Cadaver" spell level (3->2) reduced and gem cost (35->36), stamina cost (4->6) and scroll item level increased (4->5).
"Raise Banshee" spell level (4->3) reduced and gem cost (50->60) and stamina cost (5->7) increased.

3. Items
Changed most of the items and item sets.

4. Heroes
Battle experience distribution reworked. Hero can get 40% to 76% (was 30% to 100%) of the army experience depending on battle activity.
Increased Archer ExpMod (100->120). The more the ExpMod, the more experience a unit needs to level.
Increased Priest ExpMod (100->110).
Increased Necromancer ExpMod (100->110).
Increased Sharpshooter ExpMod (130->150).
Increased High Priest ExpMod (130->150).
Increased Master Necromancer ExpMod (130->150).
Necromancer now grants summoned undead bonuses of his commander skills.
Master Necromancer now grants undead in his army double bonuses of his commander skills.

5. Buildings
Castle traders of levels 1, 2 and 3 now increase the gold income. Adjusted demand and supply of all traders.
Increased income of most of the outer buildings.
Armory, Practice Halls, Barracks, Warriors Guild, War School, Officer Academy, Military Academy, Temple of War and White Shield Castle experience bonuses increased.
Temple of Peace now increases the Diplomacy of all heroes by 1.

6. Various
Reduced site looting gold and gem gain.
Increased province income.
Increased province plundering gold gain.
Hero passive ability "Necromancer's Call" now increases undead global map healing, and decreases undead upkeep
Undead and mechanical units no longer benefit from battlefield regeneration granted by hero to the whole army.
Undead units with Regeneration ability now heal on the global map even if led by a hero without "Necromancy" skill.
Necromancy skill mastery 5 undead level bonus reduced (+3 -> +2).
"Charge" has now different values. It adds +value damage for every tile of distance. Incorporeal units are immune to the ability.
"Master of the Undead" ability can be turned off to leave the corpse for other uses.
"Lower Upkeep" is now limited to 100% gold and 50% gem.

***FIXES***
Pop-ups for Health, Stamina and Morale are now properly separated.
Veteran Slinger can no longer get two versions of Armor Piercing Shot.
Rat King no longer has 1 ammo.
Summoned creatures on higher difficulty settings now have full HP.
Fixed Bugbear icon.
Fixed cast-on-self spells duplicating.
Fixed "Summon Wyvern".
Fixed "Dash", for targets with 0 stamina.
Sleep spells now show the correct duration.
AI will no longer waste stamina using Crushing Blow and Round Attack with blinded units.
Fixed various typos.

Patch v2.31

Things fixed (other minor bugs will also be collected and fixed with each patch, but won't be listed):

2.31
Fixed bug in display of certain spell descriptions. Fixed bugs and implemented suggestions in the bug report thread.
2.3
Major official patch (fix 1):
Replaced images of Death Touched, Inquisitor and Cadaver.
Warrior of Darkness renamed to Skeleton of Darkness.
Adjusted strength of some guards.
If heavy cavalry kills its opponent, it will move to the enemy's tile, just as with trampling.
"Powerful Shot" can no longer be used together with "Double Shot."
Fixed a bug that sometimes allows "Powerful Shot" to inflict double damage, instead of one and a half.
Fixed some bugs that could occasionally lead to the game crashing.
Translation: (thank you, Boon and others, for noticing and reporting the various bugs and possible improvements in the bug thread)
Shortened sentences for the 5 skill levels for hero level up to fit on one line.
Various fixes and improvements as described in the bug report thread.
2.23
Corrected names of Cutthroat unit and Wand Firing ability, a province name and some minor issues in event dialogues.
2.22
Removed question marks before and after some apostrophies in various item names etc. (see bug report thread).
2.21
Fixed a major bug of 3 files from previous version still being used in this one. Fixed various text glitches and character encoding issues, as per Boon's suggestions in the bug report thread.
