So the broken balance in Genesis is because of Astral Energy? It's a great spell but it won't win you battles. Instead in NH:
- magic is totally broken (mages outclass anybody else up to the point that even other heroes should take the mage hybrid)
- look at spells like Supreme Power or Mass Bless
- mod creator even changed Spellpower bonus progression (from +1/+1/+1/+1/+2 to +1/+1/+2/+1/+1)
- the sun bracelet that gives +2 spellpower
And there are many other issues, among which:
- too many item sets means you'll never complete one
- 'get scroll for mage tower' quests are impossible now
And the crashes at enemy turn, the turn duration, the fast enemy level up etc.

If you and enemies have different difficulties then you can change "Exp mod" in file var/difficulty.var for enemies' difficulties. Exp mod is a multiplier in percents for how much XP you need to level up.
It is very important that AI players have difficulties' names in a reverse order. It means that AI's difficulty 6 is actually a player's difficulty 0, AI's difficulty 5 is actually a player's difficulty 1 and so on.
If you want to have the same conditions for AI and player except for exp mod then you can change all other parameters in difficulty.var for chosen difficulties.
You can level up a unit manually or automatically to see what parameters and abilities he will have at certain levels (probabilities of getting certain abilities or average amount for numerical abilities). Found a small description error, the Monstrologists Guild still says it enables the recruitment of Manticores if there is an egg, but the previous building, the Handlers Guild is already enough for Manticores.
I got constant crash during enemy turn. It seems when certain unit use certain skills, or certain rituals is cast, the game crash. It mostly happen when playing a big map after quite some turns but not sure which unit/spell it is. I include link to my save files if you want to check.
